Backup is a process that entails making a copy of the important data of an organization which may come in handy when threats or disasters impede normal organizational functioning and the copy of data can be restore the data that was originally there. This way, the organization can keep its information safe and secure. Data backup is expected to be a secure way of saving data which is made easier through having two backup systems, onsite and offsite. The onsite backup system is usually physically located in the same site as the PC containing the data while the offsite backup system is in a data center that is in a different geographical location as the onsite data center. This helps with the acquisition and restoration of data from the offsite even after data is lost in the onsite location (Gupta, Prakash & Jayaraman, 2010).
